An AI’s perspective on the attack carried out by Ukraine
We Finns all remember the extraordinary war heroes of the Second World War. Men such as Lauri Törni (later known as Larry Alan Thorne), Ilmari Juutilainen, or, among the senior commanders, Hjalmar Siilasvuo. Their heroic deeds inflicted bitter losses on the enemy and earned them the prestigious Mannerheim Cross.
Warfare today, however, is a different matter – at least in Ukraine. In fact, at the end of last month, an entirely new kind of battle took place, in which no fewer than 28 Ukrainian robots attacked Russian positions.

According to Russian sources, the attacking force consisted of 18 unmanned ground vehicles, each armed with two 84 mm anti-tank weapons. They were supported by two unmanned vehicles equipped with 40 mm automatic grenade launchers, as well as eight kamikaze robots packed with explosives. Not a single human being took part in the operation – neither a soldier nor a civilian.
The objective of the attack remains unknown, but the Russians eventually succeeded in destroying the entire robotic force. Tymofiy Mylovanov, who reported on the incident, nevertheless suggested that the possible aim was to force the Russians to redeploy a substantial number of troops to repel the robotic assault. This would then have allowed Ukrainian soldiers to attack another sector of the front, where Russian defences would have been weaker than usual because of the troops diverted to deal with the robots.

With this little piece of military news, I would like to wish all Finnish fathers a very Happy Father's Day, which is celebrated today in the Nordic countries and Estonia!
It is worth remembering that we fathers in Finland are everyday heroes, just like mothers. We take care of our families, contribute through our work to keeping Finland's economy running, and – when our old adversary starts making threats – stand ready to defend our loved ones, even with weapons in our hands, despite our commitment to peace and good relations with all our neighbours.
This readiness of ours – a well-known fact in the East – helps to dampen Vladimir Putin's enthusiasm for sending his troops to conquer our country. And thus helps preserve peace here, beneath the North Star.
