Will immigration give rise to a National Socialist party in Finland

In Germany, people are fed up with Berlin's immigration policy, as we could observe in the recent state elections. This is due to problems caused by certain groups of immigrants.

These problems continued when an Austrian Islamist, who apparently tried to reach the Israeli embassy, opened fire in Munich, resulting in the police ending his radicalism. One of the man's motives was likely the anniversary of the Munich massacre, where Palestinian terrorists killed eleven Israeli athletes.

This incident is unlikely to reduce the popularity of Germany's immigration-critical parties but will rather deepen Chancellor Olaf Scholz's troubles in leading the country. This may, in turn, lead to a real collapse of the Social Democrats (SPD) in next year's federal elections.

However, for the time being, there are no clear signs of this, although SPD's support has fallen in the polls from 24.1% in the 2021 federal election to around 15%. At the same time, particularly Sahra Wagenknecht's BSW party, which primarily represents national socialism and is critical of immigration, has increased its support from zero to eight percent - in other words, eating away a part of the SPD's support.

The situation of Germany's Social Democrats made me wonder whether a nationalist left-wing party could also emerge in Finland at some point. So far, especially the Left Alliance and the Greens, but also the SDP, have followed the traditions of international socialism - even though they no longer dare to call it internationalism - and thus there is no political home for nationalist leftists in Finland.

Of course, it is evident that there is currently no demand for such a party, but if Finland's growing immigrant population, like their German counterparts, increasingly profiles itself as a source of problems, such a movement could also emerge in our political left.

It is an undeniable fact that it is precisely the lower-income segment of the native population - and therefore often positively inclined towards socialism - that comes into the most contact with the population from developing countries. And thus, they also suffer the most from the negative side effects of immigration.

The UK Prime Minister Took a One-Sided Stance on the Country's Protests

A knife attack by an immigrant-background individual at a children's dance event has led to escalating protests in the UK. You can get a fairly comprehensive picture of these protests from this social media thread.

According to the thread, violence has been committed by anti-immigration protesters—some of whom are far-right extremists—as well as Muslim immigrants. Additionally, it appears that "woke" leftists have also been involved in the violence.

However, this does not change the fact that the majority of protesters have not engaged in any violence but have simply wanted to express their dissatisfaction with the immigration policies being practiced in their country. These people are most likely ordinary Britons.

A separate issue involves the attacks on two hotels housing asylum seekers. In Tamworth, a town with a population of about 80,000, there have been incidents of rape, some of which were committed by individuals with immigrant backgrounds, though not all.

Rotherham is a slightly larger town, known for a child abuse ring that operated for about 30 years, during which Pakistani men sexually abused around 1,400 girls and women.

Authorities have been aware of this situation since at least 1990, but the operation was not shut down until 23 years later. This delay was due to a combination of factors, including race, class, religion, and gender.

There was fear that the ethnicity of the perpetrators would lead to accusations of racism, as well as contemptuous and sexist attitudes toward the primarily working-class victims. Additionally, authorities were concerned with protecting the town’s reputation, their training was inadequate, and they struggled to find the resources to investigate the matter.

Therefore, it is extremely interesting that Rotherham has now come to the forefront of these events, with an attack on a hotel doing business with migrants from developing countries. And I can fully understand the reasons why the town does not welcome immigrants who come solely for the high social welfare in the UK.

The UK's newly appointed Labour Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has naturally commented on the events. According to him, people in UK have the right to feel safe, and yet we have seen Muslim communities being targeted, mosques attacked, other minority communities persecuted, Nazi salutes made on the streets, police officers attacked, and baseless violence used alongside racist rhetoric. So, he has no hesitation in calling that as far-right hooliganism.

However, referring back to the social media thread I linked at the beginning, it would have generally been better if the Prime Minister had not taken sides at this point, but rather condemned all forms of violence. This is true even though the violence was undoubtedly initiated by anti-immigration young men, whom Starmer likely meant by the term "far-right."

A more neutral stance has indeed been taken by some. For example, Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones, who is also a Conservative politician, condemned the rioters but also criticized the Prime Minister’s actions.

According to Jones, Starmer’s actions have led to accusations of two-tier policing, which has incited protesters who claim to be fighting for Britain’s sovereignty, identity, and to stop illegal immigration. She also mentioned having spoken to people on both sides and called on the government to recognize the underlying causes of the unrest so that it can be stopped.

It remains to be seen what political solutions the UK will ultimately adopt and whether these will lead to changes in the country’s immigration policies or even serve as the building blocks for future—and possibly even more severe—social crises driven by changes in the demographic structure.

The Game is Getting Tougher

Mass immigration to the European Union has taken on a new dimension at the border between Greece and Turkey. The Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle reported that a Greek border guard was hit by a bullet fired from the Turkish side. The shooter is suspected to be a smuggler profiting from people from developing countries.

It is absolutely clear that shooting at border guards cannot be tolerated at any level, whether done by a smuggler or those being smuggled. Nor is it in line with any human rights agreements.

It remains to be seen how the EU will react to this incident. Will it be ignored, as are other crimes (example) committed by immigrants in Union territories, or will the mass migration from developing countries finally be treated as a serious threat to the whole of European culture?

Russians, on the other hand, have realized that fighting in Ukraine is not without risks to the home front. According to a Meduza news story, those returning from the war have committed various crimes. This is especially true for those who have previously engaged in criminal activity and joined the army as volunteers to escape prison.

According to the report, the Kremlin even believes that returning soldiers from Ukraine pose the greatest political and social risk factor during Vladimir Putin's reign. Of course, it would be great if this ultimately led to the fall of the aforementioned dictator and Russia's withdrawal from Ukraine.

However, I doubt that the Russians are capable of rising against Putin's regime. After all, they have become accustomed over hundreds of years to their leaders not caring about the well-being of the people, but only about enhancing their own reputation and wealth.

Despite everything, the news mentioned above indicates that the situation is intensifying regarding both immigration from developing countries to Europe and Russia's so-called special operation. It remains to be seen what impact this will have on the future of our continent.

This issue is also of great significance for Finland, as it is, like Ukraine, a neighbor of Russia, and Vladimir Putin has conducted hybrid operations against it using people from developing countries as weapons. In the best-case scenario, Russians will be frightened by the consequences of their war on the home front and will end all hybrid operations on Finland's borders.

On the other hand, it is also possible that instead of using reason, Russians might apply the criminal activities seen at the Greek-Turkish border, endangering the safety of Finnish border guards. This too must be anticipated in the training of border guards.

Finns want a border law

According to a recent opinion poll, a clear majority of Finns support a new border law that would better counter Russia's hybrid warfare. The idea was backed by 62 percent of respondents, while only 17 percent opposed it.

This means that of those who expressed an opinion in the poll, 78.5 percent were in favor of enacting the law. And this is a very large majority. In other words, Finns want a new border law.

President Alexander Stubb also supported the law, stating that "according to our intelligence, Russia is capable of moving migrants to our border who are not traditional asylum seekers but people used as weapons and instrumentalized. Over a thousand in a few hours."

Hopefully, this information will sway those Social Democratic MPs who have so far opposed the law change, and perhaps even some representatives of the Greens or the Left Alliance.

Of course, there are no guarantees, but at least I wouldn't want to be the MP who ended up supporting Vladimir Putin's efforts to use masses of people from developing countries as a hybrid weapon by flooding them across our eastern border. And in doing so, helped one of the cruelest dictators of our time to undermine our organized society and its security.
